TENANTS' FEES AND CHARGES

Section 83 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires letting agents to display their fees for tenants (where permitted) and landlords, and gives details of how and where this information should be given (This paragraph does not form part of the Assured Advice)

  • Holding deposit: One weeks rent
  • Security Deposit: 5 weeks rent or 6 weeks rent if over £50,000 per annum
  • Variation of contract/change of sharer:(at tenants request): £50
  • Lost keys or other security devices relating to property: A charge once evidence of the cost is given to the tenant.
  • Early Termination: Should the tenant leave the contract early they are liable for the landlords costs in re-letting the property as well as all rent due under the tenancy until the start date of the replacement tenancy
  • Late Rent Fees: A landlord can charge fees for rent payments that are over two weeks late. The fees can be up to 3% plus the Bank of England base interest rate.
