An Overview Of Bloomsbury
Bloomsbury was once home to some of the world’s most famous literary figures, including Virginia Woolf and Charles Dickens, the area is blessed with an abundance of history and art heritage.
This popular area also features Bloomsbury Square, Russell Square and Bedford Square, three of the many lovely garden squares in the area. These are some of the most beautiful green areas in London and offer a quiet place to escape, relax and enjoy the sunshine (when it’s out!).
It also attracts students and academics due to the various colleges close by including University College London (UCL), SOAS University of London, University College Hospital (UCH) and the London School of Tropical Medicine and many others.
Great Ormond Street Hospital is located off Queen Square and undertakes some amazing children’s healthcare work and there’s also University College Hospital (UCH), a highly regarded teaching centre and hospital.
Many of the properties in the area include Georgian-terraced houses. The look of these houses combined with the garden squares add to the picture-perfect appearance of Bloomsbury.
There are also some beautiful redbrick mansion flats which are very popular and often have a waiting list of buyers for them.

Transport and locality
Due to the prime location of Bloomsbury and the addition of the Elizabeth Line on Tottenham Court Road, it’s perfect for residents to commute easily across to neighbouring areas of London, the City to the east and the West End. As a Bloomsbury resident, as well as the Elizabeth Line, you will also have access to numerous transport links, there’s tube stations at Kings Cross and St Pancras International, Russell Square, Tottenham Court Road (Elizabeth Line), Goodge Street and Euston (mainline too). Additionally, there are many bus services throughout the area. Residents hopping on the Elizabeth Line can also travel to Kings Cross and St Pancras, which further connects them to other areas of London, as well as much of the UK and Europe via Eurostar.

Located in the area of Bloomsbury is most notably the British Museum, regarded as one of the best in the world, perfectly showcasing the rich and varied culture the area has to offer.

Investment and regeneration of the area
Camden Council have invested in more attractive green spaces, such as Alfred Place Gardens creating an inviting pedestrian friendly environment. More recently the area has benefited from the regeneration of Kings Cross to the north, which includes Coal Drops Yard and Granary Square, and to the south-west, regeneration in and around Centre Point including the station at Tottenham Court Road. The Elizabeth Line has meant that more people are looking to live or invest in the area. The Bedford Estate has also invested into the regeneration of the area including Store Street with a focus on independent retailers.
